Meet 'em, greet 'em, treat 'em and street 'em

The SGEM Xtra

The goal of the Skeptics’ Guide to Emergency Medicine (SGEM) is to cut the knowledge translation (KT) window from over ten years to less than one year. It does this by conducting a structured critical review on a recent publication. A guest skeptic is invited onto the show to discuss the publication. These reviews are then disseminated every week using a blog and podcast.

There are additional resources available to SGEM followers. These include other #FOAMed sites, Podcasts, Blogs, EBM websites and the SGEM Book Club.

However, from time-to-time an issue comes up that requires an episode that is not based on a specific publications. These have become known as SGEM Xtras.

Let me know if you think there is an Emergency Medicine issue that requires being covered on the SGEM. Send and email to TheSGEM@gmail.com with “Xtra” in the subject line.

Here is a list of previous SGEM Xtras:

Remember to be skeptical of anything you learn, even if you heard it on the Skeptics’ Guide to Emergency Medicine.
